This Artist Trio Blanket is based on the (partial) works of 3 inspirational artists: Paul Klee, Janet O’Neal, Wassily Kandinsky. At this stage (before the blanket is made), I don’t know if I will list the resultant graph (aka graphan) for sale. If it all works out ok, I probably will just in case someone wants to give this a try too.

Quick and Easy Blanket Sizes Guide
This is just a quick, rough guide for blanket sizes. There does not seem to be definitive sizes. I got tired of trying to determine an approximate size each time I wanted to make a blanket. So I am putting this here for quick easy reference.
This blanket sizes chart is from Good Knit Kisses.
z. C2C – No-Hole or Linked C2C Crochet. Holeless Corner to Corner Crochet; How To
Linked C2C (LC2C) crochet? What is it?
I talked about the Basic and most common form of C2C crochet before. But my preferred C2C crochet is this Linked C2C crochet, which I also sometimes refer to as No-Hole C2C. I have currently not as yet come across anyone doing this so this term “Linked C2C (LC2C)” or “No-Hole C2C” are my own labels to indicate:
- LC2C is made of linked stitches (LDC – Linked Double Crochet. That is a standard and pre-existing crochet terminology) and..
- that with this method, there are no pesky holes in the final fabric
Linked C2C is my preferred C2C because I end up with a crochet fabric that is not full of holes. The normal basic C2C crochet is lovely but I find, too holey. And for winter blankets when you need all the protection you can get from the cold, to have your toes poking through into the chilly air is no fun at all.
Here is another look at the results. The first 2 photos shows one of my earlier blankets, made using the standard C2C (corner to corner) stitch. The next 2 photos shows my later work (Artist Trio Lap Blanket) after I worked out the Linked C2C (or NoHole C2C) stitch.
Crochet Cords – Favourite and Interesting Cords and Braids
I love crochet cords. These are currently my three favourite crochet cords.
z. Flip Flop Crochet Booties, How To
Flip Flop Crochet Booties – This is my first crochet booties using a pair of flip flops (aka slippers, thongs). So there was a lot of frogging and experimentation along the way. I will try my best to detail the steps I took.
z. Foundation Row: MellowMe CastOn – my favourite way to start crochet
MellowMe Cast On (MM Cast On) is my personal nickname for this crochet method of starting the foundation row in lieu of the standard chain cast on. The MM Cast On also makes a great crochet cord!
Actually there are 2 real names for the this method, depending on the function you intend to use it for. They are:
- Crochet Long Tail Foundation Base Chain (CLTFBC) or
- Perfect Crochet I-Cord (PCIC)
Too much of a mouth full even when acronymed don’t you think?
This method of starting a crochet piece was created by Melissa of MellowMe Creations and has been copyrighted with the US Copyright Office.
I was initially a bit skeptical – yet another way of doing things to have to learn. Waste of time, or so I thought. But I finally took the time, and it is definitely my favourite way of starting a crochet foundation chain from that point on.
Here is her youTube video.
Main Benefits of MM CastOn:
- much prettier and more solid than the Chain Cast On
- less restrictive and stretchier than the chain on cast on
- easier than the Chainless Foundation CastOn (my former favourite)
- much faster than Chainless Foundation CastOn
I use this method everywhere I can, be it for long or short pieces of work.
Tip:
You need to have a “tail” to start the MM foundation row. That is usually about 3 – 3.5 times the length of the final length you want.
z. Invisible Join – Crochet Needle Join – How To
The Invisible Join aka Needle Join (NJ) is a most useful and, in my opinion, a beautiful way to end a row of crochet stitches. This is used in circular work (e.g. making crochet mandalas, overlay crochet) … whenever you have to end one colour at the end of a circular row and switch to another colour.
I prefer the name IJ (Invisible Join) because you don’t always need to use a needle to effect this join. And it does produce an invisible joining stitch. Basically it invisibly joins your ending stitch to your starting stitch in circular work.
Let’s do it!
z. Circle Poncho, Overlay Crochet – Free Pattern, Part 2

z. Round Poncho, Overlay Crochet – Free Pattern, Part 1
Round Poncho aka Circular Poncho, Circle Poncho. Shh … don’t tell anyone but I started this to be a bed poncho (to stay up in bed reading or just playing on the iPhone) … but it turned out as a full fledge poncho!!
This is going to a fairly long post as I will offer detailed instructions on how to make this round poncho. This pattern will be in 2 parts.
