DIY Tips and Suggestions for Blue Jingles Bootie
For the how-to, I refer you to Crochet Premmie Bootie – How to. You will find all the pictorial step-by-step instructions there for a basic construct.
I would like to say a word or two about the addition of the bells and beads here.
Always remember that threading beads is in reverse order to the sequence in which you will crochet them. For example, when crocheting, if you are going to crochet beads before bells, then you thread the bells first.
Based on the instructions from Crochet Premmie Bootie – How to, I know that for the cuffs of the booties, there will be 22stitches per round.
So before you begin crocheting (with the blue yarn), thread the blue yarn with 22 beads, then 22 bells.
I hope you enjoyed this little trip with me. This is a really fun bootie to crochet so do please give it a go. It is also very versatile – you can create them in all kinds of joyful colours.

Hi Valerie, I hope you find lots of fun jingle bells. They do add that touch of extra joy to a finished bootie. Enjoy!

Hi. The booties are really beautiful but I don’t think you should attach the beads and bells. Babies are quite limber and they chew on their feet all the time. There is a danger they could be swallowed and choke on them.

Hi Jane, thank you for your comments and feedback on the crocheted Blue Jingle Booties.
You are quite right. Babies are very nimble.
However I think the danger of them swallowing the beads or bells is very slight, if at all. For one thing, these are for premmies. For another, the beads and bells are very securely attached. Even I could not bite them off without a lot of hard gnashing. And for gumless babies, I think that it would be nigh impossible for them to get them off at that age, without teeth!!
But your thoughts are very pertinent and I will keep them in mind with respect to booties and shoes designed for older babies … Thank you.
