AFL Fingerless Gloves – made by a non-sporty fan – me!!! (˵ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°˵)
There are 3 gloves here (left to right):
- (a) dark red and white
- (b) Geelong Cats gloves
- (c) Sydney Swans gloves
However (a) was a trial run and failed to make the cut to be representative of the Sydney Swans colours (so my partner tells me). I don’t have any specific instructions for (a) but the following instructions are pretty generic. They will be useful as the basis for many variations of these gloves.

Red & White Fingerless Gloves (a)
This was originally intended as a pair of gloves in Sydney Swans colours. But my partner disabused me of that fiction. So now it is just a pair of Red & White gloves!
MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, AND CROCHET STITCH
This is worked in pretty much the same way as the Swans gloves above.
- yarn: Heritage Mills (acrylic) – discontinued, as far as I know
- hook: 4mm, 5mm, 6mm
- stitch: Thermal Stitch
- size: S-Med
I started off with a 5mm crochet hook and 26 stitches. Also worked in the round.
RED & WHITE for wrist, ending with one row of red
Change hook to 6mm and work 6 rows of TS.
START THUMBHOLE
Work thermal st in red for 7 rows, joining circle at the end of that.
AFTER THUMBHOLE
Work 3 thermal st rows
Change to 5mm hook. Ctd wth 1 TS row.
Change to 4mm hook, and work 1 TS row.
Crab st to finish edges.
Make thumb bands.
The End!
