Today I think I will spend some time doing some basic beading stitches. I know them. I forget them. So it is always handy to have a quick reminders. Unless necessary, I won’t do long tutorials on how to do these basic beading stitches. Whenever possible, I will provide links to written &/or video instructions (after finding the easiest, of course).

St Petersburg stitch is something that I learnt before and then promptly forgot, much to my chargrin. So this time, I have drawn up a simple pictorial.
I specifically named the beads used as “Top Turning Bead”, “Bottom Turning Bead”, and “Body Bead”. This helps to understand and remember the construction of the St Petersburg stitch.

This Herringbone Stitch or Ndebele Stitch bead weaving article is meant for beginners as well as anyone looking for a quick memory refresh. First the refresher, then the tutorials.
As a mnemonic aid, it is useful to know that Herringbone stitch gets its name from how the pattern resembles fishbones. This stitch is also commonly found in embroidery and knitting.
