Helena at ClearlyHelena.com
Hi there! Helena here and thanks for dropping by to check out ClearlyHelena.com. You are here either wondering about me and/or about ClearlyHelena.com.
I call this my indulgent site. Yes it is also my indulgent side! Self-indulgent that is. I get to do things that call to my heart and listen to beads that sing to my soul.
ClearlyHelena Store
ClearlyHelena.com is designed so that not only can I share what I make but hopefully along the way, I can share some of the techniques as well.
This site also hosts the ClearlyHelena Store – where you get to see and buy my creations. Additionally (for now anyway), there is a big Swarovski section in my store where you can get some of the best prices for Swarovski Elements.
I think my prices on Swarovski Elements are one of the lowest you can find around. I am talking about genuine Swarovski Elements. I am an authorised outlet for Swarovski and all of them come direct from Swarovski HQ, Austria.
But why are my prices so much cheaper you say? It is because I am not really actively selling them anymore. Rather I tend to buy for my own needs and the extras I offer them to you at markups only enough to cover my shipping costs and stuff. The prices are not set to make a profit like they would be if this was a going business concern.
About my Creations
I almost never make anything other than one of a kind. It is more a result of having so many ideas calling to me all the time, that to pause and make the same pattern of anything is next to impossible for me. That is why I seldom take custom orders – though I have been known to bend when the person and or the design “speaks” to me.
Though I have been often asked, I cannot clearly categorize my works as any particular style. I love making jewelry as well as accessories as well as garment and home decor. The styles that are employed depend on the creation underway. And much is determined by how the materials themselves interact and how the creation itself desires to emerge (if that makes sense).
It is truly one of the best feeling when the materials “talk” to me and lead me onto their own specific creations.
I don’t believe I could bear not creating and/or making things. I feel my biggest obligation to this process is to learn more skills and techniques so that there is a wider avenue through which the materials can determine how they wish to be born. One is never certain what the end result is going to be (much like having a child!). It is also a very humbling process – for I have no doubt that inspiration and ideas come not necessarily from ourselves alone but in it, there is the element of playfulness that the Universe yields to us. But only if we are open to it.
In that way, it is also a learning and growing process. You learn to let go of pre-conception and fears and how “things should be” and you allow another process, not necessarily in your control, to come into play. You learn to “trust” how things process themselves and look out for the golden nuggets when things go “wrong”. You learn to listen to something inside yourself. You learn to recognise the vibrations of materials as they call to you – independently of what they cost or how costly materials “should be” used for the “perfect” design. The One Day syndrome.
I tend to document much of the process as I can so that I can share it. Because I believe so much of the ideas and the process were freely given to me, I am more than happy to share the how-tos and steps in the hopes that someone too will benefit and be inspired, maybe along wholly different paths.
So that is what you find here – a lot of detailed photos and detailed steps (when I can) of how things are done. I hope they provide inspiration as well as helpful tips for you along your own paths of joyous creation.
A Little More About Me
I am just an ordinary person who spends an inordinate amount of time on the internet. I could blame Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest for this condition, but that would not be really true. (Though I do spend too much time there!!)
I actually spend a lot of time creating jewelry and crafts and I run an online e-commerce store on the side. I love writing and in the process of these activities, I end up spending huge chunks of time doing detailed research on articles, people, products, affiliate programs and sometimes, even the kitchen sink!
I hold a Bachelors in Econometrics (statistical economics), a Masters in Information Systems, and a Master Practitioner in Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP). I tell you that more to explain why I have such an obsession with doing such lengthy research on topics and products and why I have such a penchant in knowing what actually works, how much it costs, is it worth it, or are they scam? (Yes, a skeptic cynic lurks in my heart too.)
If you want to know more about me, then you will have to follow me around!
